Brno University of Technology (BUT) is the second largest technical university in the Czech Republic, situated in Brno, known as a centre of science, research, innovations and startup hub. The university comprises 8 faculties with more than 23,000 students and 3,000 staff members, and 7 research centres. The Faculty of Information Technology (FIT), was founded on 1st January 2002 based on the Department of Computer Science and Engineering (DCSE) established in 1964. Part of the faculty is located in the former Monastery of the Carthusian Order, which was founded in 1375. In historic buildings there are tuition facilities for individual teaching, departments with programming focus and the Dean’s Office. Historic buildings were sensitively complemented by two new lecture hall complexes.
